Jordan, a country in Southwest Asia, spans desert plains, uplands, and the Jordan Rift Valley, including the Dead Sea. Its capital, Amman, serves as a cultural and commercial hub, reflecting both ancient heritage and modern urban life. Jordan is home to historical sites like Petra, the ancient Nabataean city, and the biblical lands of Moab, Edom, and Gilead. With limited oil reserves, its economy relies on services, trade, tourism, phosphate and potash mining, and remittances, while facing challenges from water scarcity and regional instability. Arabic is the official language, Islam is the dominant religion, and Palestinians, along with other minorities, form a significant portion of the population.
