KFUPM WORLD Festival Celebrates Global Cultures and Cross-Cultural Exchange

The KFUPM WORLD Festival returned to King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) on 27 November 2025, marking one of the largest student-led cultural festivals in the university’s history. The four-day event brought together over 30 nationalities, showcasing a vibrant mix of cultural performances, interactive exhibits, traditional foods, and arts designed to foster cross-cultural understanding and global engagement.

Organized entirely by students, the festival transformed KFUPM’s campus into a dynamic global walkway. Each zone featured thematic areas highlighting tourism, arts, entertainment, and cultural heritage. Visitors were immersed in displays representing countries such as China, Indonesia, Pakistan, Sudan, and many others. From traditional costumes to handcrafted items and culinary delights, the festival provided students and guests with authentic cultural experiences rarely seen in one location.

Student-Led Initiative Promotes International Connections

Founder Ziyad Al-Harbi emphasized that the festival’s primary goal is to create meaningful connections among international and Saudi students. By encouraging participants to step beyond their usual social circles, the festival fosters friendships, dialogue, and understanding across cultural boundaries.

“Events like KFUPM WORLD Festival give students an opportunity to explore the world without leaving campus,” said Al-Harbi. “We hope it inspires curiosity, respect, and long-lasting relationships among all participants.”

Performances, Arts, and Cultural Experiences

One of the highlights of the festival was the live Saudi folk performances near Building 70. Local drummers and dancers drew enthusiastic crowds, encouraging audience participation. Simultaneously, international performers shared music, dance, and storytelling from their home countries, creating a melting pot of cultures across the campus.

Attendees praised the festival for its welcoming atmosphere, allowing visitors to experience languages, customs, and traditions in an interactive and engaging environment. Workshops, live demonstrations, and hands-on activities enabled students to gain practical insights into diverse cultures while enjoying entertainment and cuisine from around the world.

Supporting Vision 2030 and Campus Life

The festival aligns closely with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals, particularly the emphasis on enriching university life through cultural and community engagement. By promoting diversity and inclusivity, KFUPM WORLD Festival encourages students to embrace global citizenship and cross-cultural collaboration, preparing them to thrive in a globally connected world.

Organizers aim to expand KFUPM WORLD into an annual, larger-scale celebration, further solidifying its reputation as a cornerstone event for students, faculty, and visitors alike. Its growing popularity highlights the increasing role of cultural festivals in strengthening community bonds and promoting understanding among diverse student populations.
