China Algeria Youth Cultural Ambassadors have been announced by Sinopec to promote bilateral cooperation and cultural exchange between the two nations. The five young participants were selected for their outstanding contributions in fostering people-to-people ties, highlighting the importance of youth engagement in strengthening long-term China–Algeria relations.
Sinopec Hosts Final Awards Ceremony
China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec) hosted the final awards ceremony for the “In Search of China–Algeria Youth Cultural Ambassadors” program in Algiers. The initiative falls under the Youth Development actions of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum, aiming to promote cultural exchange, mutual understanding, and friendship between Chinese and Algerian youth.
Ambassador Selection and Recognition
The program received 165 entries from Algerian youth, including creative videos and vlogs highlighting China–Algeria cooperation. After multiple review rounds, 30 entries reached the semi-finals, 15 competed on stage, and finally, five exceptional participants were selected as official Youth Cultural Ambassadors.
Sinopec’s Branding Director Yongsheng Yu emphasized that the ambassadors exemplify the positive impact of civilizational exchange and inspire the next generation to actively participate in bilateral initiatives.
Support from Government and Cultural Leaders
Algerian officials also highlighted the program’s significance. Smail Debbache, President of the Algeria-China Friendship Association, praised the initiative for enhancing communication and friendship between the youth of both countries. Culture Minister Malika Bendouda encouraged participants to act as cultural bridges, promoting understanding and shared values.
Chinese Economic Counselor Guo Jianjun highlighted the historic friendship between China and Algeria, tracing roots to the Silk Road and modern Belt and Road Initiative efforts. The ambassador program is seen as a platform to strengthen ongoing bilateral collaborations across education, arts, and social development.
Promoting Youth Engagement and Long-Term Cooperation
By naming these China Algeria Youth Cultural Ambassadors, Sinopec reinforces the role of youth as key drivers of cultural diplomacy. The initiative encourages young people to actively participate in exchanges, creative projects, and programs that highlight both nations’ achievements.
The ambassadors will participate in future events, workshops, and exchange programs, fostering sustained people-to-people connections and further solidifying China–Algeria relations in the cultural and educational spheres.
