BSF Intercepts Smuggler in Coordinated Anti-Narcotics Operation

Acting on specific intelligence, BSF personnel, in coordination with the Punjab Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), intercepted a suspected smuggler near Bhalla Colony on the outskirts of Amritsar. Security teams recovered 300 grams of heroin and seized a vehicle believed to have been used for transporting the narcotics.

The arrested suspect, identified as a resident of Lahorimal village, was handed over to the concerned authorities for further interrogation and legal proceedings.

Drone-Based Smuggling Attempts Thwarted by BSF Surveillance

In a separate operation near Hardo Rattan village, BSF troops detected suspicious aerial movement using technical surveillance systems. A search operation led to the recovery of a DJI Mavic 3 drone along with 545 grams of heroin, believed to have been dropped from across the international border.

Another drone-related seizure was made in farmland near Raipur Kalan, where BSF teams recovered a DJI Mavic 4 Pro drone and 570 grams of heroin. Officials said the use of advanced drones highlights evolving smuggling tactics employed by cross-border networks.

BSF Intensifies Border Vigilance in Punjab Sector

BSF officials confirmed that all three cases are under active investigation to identify handlers and cross-border links. The force has intensified surveillance, night patrolling, and technical monitoring along vulnerable stretches of the Amritsar border to counter narcotics trafficking.

The seizures underscore the BSF’s critical role in safeguarding India’s borders and disrupting drug supply chains that threaten national security and public health.

Rising Use of Drones in Cross-Border Smuggling

Security agencies note a sharp rise in the use of commercial drones for narcotics smuggling along the Punjab border. These devices allow smugglers to avoid direct contact, making detection more challenging. In response, the BSF has enhanced counter-drone capabilities and inter-agency coordination.
