Brazil’s beef exports to China jumped 38% in September 2025, setting a new monthly record as global trade flows shifted due to U.S. tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump’s administration. According to industry group Abrafrigo, Brazil shipped 187,340 tonnes of beef to China, helping offset a 41% decline in exports to the United States. The tariffs—now reaching 50% on Brazilian beef—have pushed Latin America’s largest economy to seek new markets, with 130 countries increasing purchases this year. Total beef exports generated $1.92 billion in September, up 49% in value and 17% in volume compared to last year. The European Union has now become Brazil’s second-largest beef destination, led by Italy, the Netherlands, and Spain, where imports surged by more than 100%. Despite the U.S. trade pressure, analysts say Brazil’s beef sector has shown remarkable resilience, turning tariff challenges into opportunities by capitalizing on rising global demand and diversifying its export markets.
