The iconic French comic series Asterix is inspiring its first theme park outside France, with Germany’s Belantis Park near Leipzig transforming into an Asterix theme park Germany attraction. The new park will mirror the popular Parc Asterix near Paris and is expected to attract hundreds of thousands of visitors annually.

Belantis Transformation and Opening Plans
The transformation of Belantis Park is scheduled for 2030–2031, with the first area featuring Idefix, Obelix’s loyal dog, set to open in March 2026. The project is led by Compagnie des Alpes, operator of Parc Asterix, which welcomed 2.9 million visitors during the 2024–2025 season. The German park aims to host up to 900,000 visitors annually once fully operational.
Germany as a Strategic Location for Asterix
Germany is the second-largest market for Asterix comic books, after France, making it a strategic choice for expanding the franchise. Decades after the deaths of creators René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo, the Asterix series continues to thrive. The 41st comic, Asterix in Lusitania, released in October, is available in 19 languages across 25 countries.
Bringing French Comic Culture to Germany
The project represents a major step in bringing France’s beloved comic culture to international audiences, combining nostalgia with modern amusement park experiences. Fans can expect immersive rides, themed attractions, and interactive experiences that celebrate the adventures of Asterix and his friends.
