Algeria to Inaugurate Africa’s Largest R&D Center for Technology and Innovation

Algeria will soon open Africa’s largest research and development center, a national hub designed to accelerate digital innovation, artificial intelligence, and entrepreneurship, officials announced in Algiers on Wednesday.

Speaking at the 4th E-commerce and Online Services Exhibition (ECSEL EXPO), Minister of Post and Telecommunications Sid Ali Zerrouki said the new R&D center will partner with global technology leaders and provide open access for young researchers and developers to transform ideas into market-ready projects.

Zerrouki highlighted the initiative as a strategic step to strengthen Algeria’s digital economy and sustain enterprise growth amid global technological shifts.

Knowledge Economy Minister Noureddine Ouadah announced that a forthcoming deal with Algeria Venture, the public accelerator, will develop specialized programs in advanced technologies and AI to reinforce a knowledge-based economy.

Trade Minister Amel Abdellatif also underscored efforts to expand electronic payments and digitize commercial and administrative services, aiming to modernize business operations nationwide.
