President Tebboune Honors Algerians Abroad on National Migration Day

Summary

Marking the 64th anniversary of the October 17, 1961 demonstrations in Paris, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune paid tribute to Algerians abroad who supported the country’s independence struggle and continue contributing to its national renewal.

In a message delivered Thursday for National Migration Day, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune honored Algerian emigrants who joined the Liberation Revolution, recalling the Paris massacre of 1961, when police under Maurice Papon brutally repressed peaceful Algerian demonstrators.

Tebboune praised the sacrifices of those who “fought to overturn colonial history,” calling the event “an unforgettable day in our national memory.” He saluted Algerians abroad for their loyalty and role in economic transformation and nation-building, urging them to remain engaged in shaping a modern Algeria.

“Long live Algeria, glory and eternity to our valiant martyrs,” his message concluded.
