Malaysia News: Featured Insight

Malaysia is a country of Southeast Asia, lying just north of the Equator, and it is composed of two noncontiguous regions: Peninsular (West) Malaysia on the Malay Peninsula and East Malaysia on the island of Borneo. Kuala Lumpur is the capital, while Putrajaya serves as the administrative centre. Malaysia is a member of the Commonwealth and was established on September 16, 1963, from territories formerly under British rule; Singapore was initially part of the federation but seceded in August 1965. The country’s physical geography includes extensive coastal lowlands and mountainous interiors, and Mount Kinabalu (4,095 m) is the highest peak in Malaysia and the broader Southeast Asian archipelago.
