Algeria is sending a strong team of four para-powerlifting athletes to compete at the 2025 World Para-Powerlifting Championships in Cairo, running from October 10 to 18. The team includes one female athlete and aims to continue Algeria’s tradition of success in international para-powerlifting.

Algerian Para-Powerlifting Team and Coaches
The Algerian Handisport Federation (FAH) confirmed that the national team includes:
- Hocine Bettir (-65 kg)
- Chems Eddine Boudra (-49 kg)
- Radhouane Sedjerari (-65 kg)
- Sabrina Moussaoui (-45 kg, female)
The squad is led by head coach Mohamed Salaheddine Benatta with assistant coach Habib Belhaou, ensuring expert guidance for the global stage.
Road to the 2025 Championships and Paralympic Qualification
This Cairo championship follows three World Cup stages that serve as qualifiers for the 2028 Los Angeles Paralympic Games. The 2025 edition features 537 elite athletes and 119 juniors from 18 countries, including multiple African and world champions.
All four Algerian lifters enter the competition after impressive performances at the Santiago World Cup in August:
- Hocine Bettir – Gold in -65 kg
- Chems Eddine Boudra – Gold and silver in -49 kg
- Radhouane Sedjerari – Two silvers in junior -65 kg
- Sabrina Moussaoui – Bronze in -45 kg
These results highlight Algeria’s continued excellence in para-powerlifting and position the athletes as strong contenders in Cairo.
Competition Schedule for Algerian Athletes

- Boudra faces 16 competitors in the -49 kg class
- Sedjerari competes against 9 athletes in the junior -65 kg division
- Bettir will contest 36 lifters in the elite -65 kg category
- Moussaoui goes up against 20 athletes in the elite -45 kg class
