The National Film Board of Canada (NFB) is releasing two acclaimed new films this November, available for free streaming on nfb.ca — a platform offering over 7,000 Canadian titles. This initiative highlights the NFB’s ongoing commitment to sharing diverse Canadian stories and creative voices with audiences worldwide.

Hairy Legs Premieres November 10
Starting November 10, Andrea Dorfman’s Hairy Legs (2024) — an animated short available in Canada and the U.S. — explores the filmmaker’s teenage defiance of beauty norms and gender expectations.
The 17-minute film has already received multiple awards, including the Guy L. Coté Grand Prize for Best Canadian Animated Film at the 2025 Sommets du cinéma d’animation. Through humor and honesty, Dorfman invites viewers to reflect on identity, self-expression, and the societal pressures surrounding appearance.
Nechako: It Will Be a Big River Again Streams November 17
From November 17, Lyana Patrick’s feature documentary Nechako: It Will Be a Big River Again (2025) will stream in Canada. The film follows the Stellat’en and Saik’uz Nations and their decades-long legal effort to restore the Nechako River in British Columbia after severe ecological damage caused by dam construction.
Patrick’s powerful storytelling combines environmental advocacy with Indigenous resilience, shining a light on the enduring relationship between land, culture, and justice.
